A small town's sudden power surge fried tech gear in hundreds of homes

Up to 1,000 people in a small Pennsylvania town saw lots of their appliances go up in smoke recently when a sudden power surge hit the area. The incident was so widespread that up to a quarter of the town's population experienced the event.
