Data science is presumed to carry immense promise for better public decision-making. But there are still important questions to be addressed around law and policy. Can we find answers to important personal and policy questions within data? What counts as good data, persuasive analysis and accountable decision-making in this context? And what are we likely to miss, or misunderstand, when making legal or policy decisions on the basis of “big data”?
