Apple Pay promised to make plastic obsolete. Then came wary shoppers, confused clerks


More than two years after its launch, Apple Pay isn’t as ubiquitous as Apple and analysts had expected. Adoption has faltered amid consumers’ security concerns, large retailers’ slow acceptance, and Apple’s relatively paltry marketing.
